Farming Futures Sustainability hub, LLysfasi, Coleg Cambria
Circa £8m New Build
JPS is currently appointed as the Civil and Structural Engineers for the new Farming Futures Sustainability Hub at Llysfasi. This is the latest of Coleg Cambria’s ambitious redevelopment projects. The £8m Farming Futures Sustainability Hub in Llysfasi will include soil laboratories, a demonstration theatre and cafe. It will also have learning zones to fully support learners and the wider agricultural community focus on sustainable farming for the future. The Hub will be equipped to enable industry partners in engineering, forestry and countryside management to demonstrate the latest technology and advances in their industries.
JPS worked alongside a timber frame supplier to design the building as a hybrid steel and timber structure, supported off traditional foundations and a suspended slab.
The JPS civils team developed the drainage strategy to maximise the use of sustainable urban drainage solutions. This will reduce the strain on the existing campus drainage network.
The scheme is targeting a BREEAM Excellent rating. It aims to be an exemplar Low Carbon education estate of the future.
