JPS designed a new roof structure to replace the deteriorated concrete roof for Leprino Foods (formally Glanbia Cheese). This Mozzarella manufacturing factory in Llangefni, North Wales is the largest manufacturer of mozzarella in Europe! The challenge was to devise a a way to replace the roof whilst keeping the cheese production line running below.
For the project, JPS undertook site surveys and checks to the existing steelwork. From there, we designed a replacement portal framed roof along with a temporary works scheme with temporary beams supports on the existing roof steel. This allowed the flat concrete deck roof to be removed and replaced with the new pitched steel roof whilst the site was still live below.
