Project overview
JPS provided the full civil and structural engineering design for this £9 million residential retirement development in Menston.
The scheme delivers 69 high-specification apartments with integrated care facilities, creating luxury independent living accommodation for residents.
Built on the site of a former public house, the development presented a number of ground engineering challenges, including difficult ground conditions requiring piled foundations and culvert diversions. The building structure was formed using load-bearing masonry construction with precast concrete floors supported on piled foundations, alongside communal, healthcare and welfare facilities designed to support residents’ wellbeing and long-term independence.
The engineering challenge
The scheme presented several challenges, including:
- Redeveloping a former public house site with challenging ground conditions.
