Abbey School, Chester

Project Info

JPS was the structural consultant for the temporary works and building fabric preservation for this restoration and conversion project to create an independent special educational needs school and lodgings within Chester’s historic Abbey Square. Works included the design of chimney supports, openings to existing masonry walls, back propping allow for extensive roof repair works along with the bridging of vaulted basement structures.

Our approach to restoration and extensions of historically significant buildings focusses on the requirement to ensure that any works are reversible and maintain the historic fabric untouched wherever possible, including the required temporary works solutions during the construction stage.
