JPS provided full structural design services to Read Construction for the renovation and extension of the original stable block at Chester Zoo. The alterations and extensions to the existing Grade II listed building are to create The Square, a wedding and events venue in the heart of Chester Zoo.
This stunning new venue is based in the original stable block where the zoo began back in the 1930s. It will offer a large open plan venue as well as a set of unique smaller meeting spaces. The Square features an impressive gated entrance, a large private courtyard, exposed brick walls, vaulted rafters and large feature windows overlooking the garden. The space will also incorporate a host of original features which tell the story of the original building.
JPS have provided structural engineering services to many other projects at Chester zoo including heritage renovation work and animal enclosures.
