JPS has provided the full structural and civil design for Maes Gwern day centre, a new build adult learning centre in Mold, North Wales.

The facility aims to provide new skills and support for young local adults towards gaining employment. It will have a capacity of 80 people, the majority of which will be students with additional learning needs. It is intended to meet the current requirements for the area as well as providing for future needs.

The JPS civils design sought to minimise the site earthworks on this sloping site. They also incorporated SuDs features to achieve a SAB compliant scheme. The superstructure is formed in timber frame construction. The scheme will be targeting Nett zero carbon in Operation/Operational Energy (NZCiO).

The day care centre building, designed by Lovelock Mitchell Architects is a single-storey deveolpment. It includes multi-use workshops, offices and accessible support spaces. In additon there will be a shop, garage, wood store, parking areas and hardscaped areas for the proposed relocation of poly tunnels and green-houses.

Work is due to commence on site in 2024.
