Working alongside the Adligton in-house design team, JPS provided a full structural design for Riverside Gardens, a 61 unit retirement community on the banks of the river Nidd in Knaresborough, Yorkshire. The collection of 1, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments are designed for those who want to enjoy modern, stylish living in a safe and secure environment.

The structure incorporated piled foundations with reinforced ground-beams with load-bearing masonry and precast floors. The scheme was designed in a federated 3D workspace to ensure full coordination between all disciplines prior to construction. 

The JPS BIM team used Revit with integrated Dynamo scripts to automate pile schedules, rebar information and lintel schedules.

Phase 1 – The Cottages

JPS provided full structural design for the restoration of two former cottages into a bespoke development of two, three storey homes. Honeysuckle House and Wisteria Cottage by Carden homes are part of a luxury development in the Cheshire countryside. Each home is finished to high standard, blending modern interiors with sympathetic restoration of the original, heritage properties.

The structural design for phase 1 included structural alterations to create open plan living spaces and panoramic glazing to the rear of the properties. JPS also advised on chimney repair works in order to conserve the original heritage features.

Phase 2 – The Barns

JPS provided full structural and civil designs for the conversion of grade II listed barn buildings into 12 luxury home. JPS undertook a full structural survey of the barns and designed strengthening and remedial works including replacement floors and roof structures. The JPS civil engineering team developed the drainage strategy for the site and detailed the plot drainage for each new house.
